These posts are devoted to our experiments (success or failure) in the galley. For those who aren't familiar, the galley is the name given to the kitchen area of a boat. When we first started planning for our life on the water, we had all sorts of culinary dreams including growing our own herbs and vegetables and living almost entirely from the line of a fishing pole. But almost immediately, many of these dreams died. We can't grow herbs in May on Lake Superior. We don't even have a fishing license yet! In many cases, we haven't been able to be as self-sustainable as we had previously imagined. But that is OK. We are beginners. This section is designed to educate (and perhaps entertain) our readers as we experiment with our humble cookware: a two-burner alcohol stove, 4-quart pressure cooker, wok, and cast iron skillet.

Those of you with experience in the kitchen, we encourage you to comment with suggestions or concerns.

Those of you without experience, we invite you to follow our journey in the galley, learning, possibly experimenting yourself, and every now and then enjoying a laugh at our expense!
