Still Here

The weather has really been confusing to us while we have been in Houghton. What began as a stopping point on the way to the Apostle Islands has turned into a week long vacation. After my parents came to visit on Saturday, we were hoping to leave either Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday. To some it might seems like the last few days would have been a perfect time to get out on the water. It has been sunny, hot, and breezy. I agree. But according to several weather entities, there have been continuous cold fronts moving in from the West. So even though most of the day is preferable weather, a Western cold front mixing with warm air and an East wind is perfect conditions for quickly forming severe weather (exactly what we experienced last week). So even though we are more than ready to get on with our journey, we feel that it is worth waiting for the multiple fronts to pass through. Thursday or Friday is looking better.

Also, Tim, a good friend of the Engelhart family loaned us one of his jib sails for the trip home. We really appreciate it and hope to try it out as we move East.

Love that night time pic! Good summary of the weather. Well, what can I say.... sometimes boring boating is good. I know you totally understand after your last experience.

So glad you are playing it safe! We loved spending time with you and were quite comfortable with your co captainship of the boat. Another night docked there just proves that you are smart and thinking things through..Makes it a lot easier for us not to worry. Love you both!!! yermom
