Home Sweet Home

We left Baraga on Monday and arrived safely in Big Bay. On the way we we able to stop by the Huron Islands. It brought back memories for both of us. Fortunately, this time the skies were blue and it was very calm. We anchored and explored the island. It was very interesting. I felt that I was on the set of an Indiana Jones movie in that there were several large bridges with heavy vegetation all over the place. The Island also seems to be heavily populated with rabbits. We had a pleasant snack on the top just outside of the beautiful abandoned lighthouse. After some exploring we continued on to Big Bay. We happened to arrive what seemed to be the opening night of Bay Cliff Health Camp. We heard all sorts of laughing and singing just down the beach at their beach fire pits. On Tuesday morning, we left for Marquette. We made great time on a beautiful day so we decided to check out Granite Island. We were initially planning to just circle the island and continue, but when we realized there were two mooring blocks already set up, we decided to explore a bit more. We managed to get to shore on our dinghy. Granite Island is absolutely infested with seagulls, so we left very quickly. We then proceeded to Marquette. We will be here for a few more days, then plan to head East to Munising. So presently, we are enjoying the comforts of home, appreciating the weather, and having a great take taking friends and family on days sails.

Welcome back to Marquette! It was a delightful surprise to run into you both this afternoon. Megan, I can honestly say I thought that after graduation I didn't think our paths would ever happen to cross again. I'm glad they did, and happy sailing!
