Growing Up

We've been smacked by a little case of the growing-up-and-turning-into-adult syndrome.  Two weeks passed in a simple paradise on the white sands of the family cottage.  A sudden realization of our upcoming situation forced us to start thinking about the future.  Somehow the summer just doesn't last forever....huh.

Corey is planning on going back to Northern to pursue his MBA while he is still young enough to get tuition benefits. Thus our prior plan of living in the Virgin Islands for the winter has suddenly came to a painfully halting stop.  So now what?

All sorts of ideas are rumbling through our heads...feeling like just traveling for the sake of traveling lacks purpose, but finding purpose takes a while...and still...we're not ready to go back to Marquette for the next couple of years.

Student loans, careers, starting a life somewhere, getting serious...etc...

Stay tuned.

I remember being that age, at that stage in life, and it was a scary time. The important thing to remember that this is YOUR life together, your adventure, and nobody else's. Don't feel like you have to conform to society's rules, to the "sensible" way of doing things, to the "American dream." Nobody sets your boundaries, except for you. There are families who live aboard and travel the world (many are writers, and you both do have a talent for that!). In our case, we bought the house in the suburbs and now plan to eventually sell it. We're in our 30's and lived aboard with a 4-year-old for a month and a half (we could have made it all summer, if luck had been on our side!). Just know that "growing up" does not have to mean letting go of your dreams.
