Big Bay

We left Marquette on a clear day and enjoyed a full day of sailing on a strong south wind all the way to Big Bay. It felt great to not have to touch the engine until we navigated into the harbor. After anchoring, we rowed ashore and were immediately welcomed by a large group of local. They were celebrating what turned out to be a holiday weekend in Big Bay. After mentioning that we were planning on walking to town, one of them insisted on us borrowing there jeep. I enjoyed a cold beer while Meg did some internet stuff at the free wi-fi. What a great town. What followed was a weekend that they called "Fire on the Bay" which consisted of two days of partying and endless 80's ballads at the harbor.

On Saturday, We were able to enjoy a beautiful simple wedding on the shore of Lake Independence. One of our friend’s older brothers was getting married and we were invited at the last second. We yet again enjoyed borrowing a car. After the wedding, were invited to accompany the Bay Cliff campers during the fireworks. Bay Cliff is a pretty incredible place. They brought all of the campers down to the beach for the show. There were custom “sand chairs” made for the campers in wheelchairs. All went fine and dandy.

The next morning, we're off at dusk.

Success at Big Bay, MI.
